What is RSS all about?

RSS feed icon

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds provide an easy means for people to be alerted when you add new content as soon as it is published. They are a widely adopted standard and are used on most up to date sites.

Where ever you see the orange icon (right) the web site is indicating there is an RSS feed available for you to use. RSS feeds are cross platform and can be read by mobile phones, email applications, browsers and desktop applications.
