SQUARE WAVE TECHNOLOGY | ||
![]() The output voltage from a transformer-based power supply is approximately sinusoidal at 50-60 Hz. The lamp’s UV output is dependent on the magnitude of the input voltage, hence it is pulsed at double the input voltage frequency. Lamp output therefore pulses at 100-120 Hz. | ![]() The output voltage from an e-Brick electronic power supply is square wave at 300 Hz. As before, the lamp’s UV output is dependent on the magnitude of the input voltage, hence it is maintained at a constant level. Lamp output is therefore constant. | ![]() When comparing the UV output curves from both types of power supply, it can be seen that the Root Means Squared (RMS) output from the e-Brick powered lamp is approximately 20% higher. |
