e-Brick three phase

Description

The e-Brick lamp control and power supply is the latest product to be developed by GEW. Incorporating many features to make set-up commissioning quick and simple. The real advantage however is in the efficiency of operation; UV output is boosted by over 20% but energy consumption is reduced by up to 30%.

The e-Brick lamp control.

Key Features and benefits

  • High-voltage high-frequency square-wave technology for 20% more UV and constant output.
  • Three-phase input, balanced under all load conditions and stabilised constant UV output during mains voltage fluctuations (within 370-480V, 50-60Hz).
  • High power factor, high efficiency and low standby power for economic running with up to 30% less energy consumption.
  • Infinitely variable output power for fine control and efficient running.
  • Automatic control of UV output level in proportion to press speed.
  • Simple comprehensive control via intuitive Colour Touch Screen for minimal operator training and ease of use.
  • Integrated intelligent control with monitoring and diagnostic features for optimised UV output, lamp longevity and system efficiency.
  • Status monitoring of additional equipment (chillers etc).
  • Integral control network provides linking of additional (slave) e-Bricks for expandability.
  • Ultra-compact lightweight and stackable with less than 30% of the volume and 20% of the weight of conventional systems allows:
    • reduction in shipping sizes and weights.
    • easier handling.
    • quicker installation.
    • integration into individual print stations.

The Technology

The output voltage from a transformer/choke ballast type supply is approximately sinusoidal at 50-60Hz.

The lamp UV output is dependant on the magnitude of the input voltage, hence it is pulsed at double the input voltage frequency. Lamp output varies at 100-120Hz.
The output voltage from an e-Brick is square wave at 300Hz.

As before, the lamp UV output is dependant on the magnitude of the input voltage, hence it is maintained at a constant level. Lamp output is constant.
When comparing the two lamp UV output curves it can be seen that the root mean square (rms) output from the e-Brick supplied lamp is greater.
