Fans and Interconnections

Fans and Interconnections

All GEW UV and IR systems will require some form of air cooling. Our design team understand the requirements fully and will design a system accordingly. A standard air cooling system will require a fan (or fans), some flexible ducting and autodamper(s) to control the airflow. Options are available for rigid ducting, ozone filtration and acoustic hoods.

GEW will provide the performance requirements for the section of ducting from the fan to the building exterior but, unless otherwise arranged, will not supply that ducting.

Fans

A wide range of quiet-running fans are available to suit cooling systems for single lampheads up to, possibly, ten lampheads. Fans are powered and controlled by the master lamp control unit (e-Brick, p-Brick, or HV lamp control units). Larger systems could require more than one fan.

Acoustic hoods (optional)

Optional acoustic hoods are available for the larger fans. Manufactured from sheet steel and lined with open-cell acoustic material they offer a better working environment for the operator. All hoods are easily removable for access to the fan.

Autodampers

Lamp temperature is controlled by an autodamper which can be mounted directly on the fan (as shown), on rigid ducting (as shown above) or directly onto the lamphead. One autodamper per lamphead is required. The lamp controller monitors lamp temperatures and sends control signals to the autodamper to adjust the position of a butterfly valve, hence controlling the cooling airflow.

Flexible ducting

The basic cooling system utilises 100mm or 125mm diameter concertina type flexible aluminium ducting. Other flexible ducting material are available. The use of flexible ducting provides an inexpensive system.

Rigid ducting (optional)

GEW rigid duct systems feature modular clip-together elements manufactured in hot dip galvanised steel. Typically our rigid duct system will be made from diameter 250mm and 300mm elements. Rigid ducting provides a neat durable solution which can be suspended, floor mounted or even mounted within the press itself.
