IsoCure - Lamphead

Introduction Lamphead Design & Integration Engineering Power and Control

  • No cooling fans or exhaust air ducting (where press space permits)
  • Lamp is sealed in its own temperature-controlled micro-climate
  • Cooling is achieved simply by connecting the lamphead to a standard chiller
  • No expensive de-ionised water source required
  • Neither ambient air nor compressed air are used to cool the lamp
  • Up to 90% quieter than a conventionally air-cooled installation
IsoCure Lamphead

EXTENDED WORKING LIFE

Because there is no air movement though the lamphead, there is no ingress of contaminants either. As a result the lamp, reflector and working parts are kept in pristine condition and at peak performance.

INTEGRAL OZONE CATALYST

Ozone generated by the UV lamp is instantly destroyed inside the lamphead by a built-in, long-life catalytic converter. This again avoids the need for air extraction.

AIR: A TAKEN-FOR-GRANTED CONSUMABLE

In plants where the ambient air is heated or cooled, substantial sums of money can be wasted each year as the treated air is extracted by the UV system in cooling the lamps and removing ozone. IsoCure eliminates this hidden expense.

Inert Gas Curing

For food packaging, siliconising and very high speed applications where cure level is critical, IsoCure can be upgraded with GEW’s inert gas curing package to purge oxygen from the curing zone. As shown by the graph below, a reduced oxygen concentration brings significant improvements to the cure quality. With experience of building inert gas curing systems since 1999, GEW are now able to integrate these with the majority of printing and coating machines.

IsoCure - Inert Gas Curing
Lower cure quality values indicate better cure
ppm = parts per million O2
