Robert took on the 100-mile Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 with his sponsorship funds going to the Sue Ryder charity. Sue Ryder offer hospice and neurological care for people facing a frightening, life-changing diagnosis and provide a safety net for patients and their loved ones at an extremely difficult time. Robert’s mother-in-law volunteers at a Sue Ryder neurological care centre; he’s heard first-hand what fantastic work they do.

Robert hoped to complete the gruelling circuit in under eight hours. However, the weather conditions were poor and this led to accidents on the busy course. Going up a steep hill, a fellow rider lost control and in the ensuing collision Robert fell off and dislocated his finger. He wanted to continue but paramedics instructed him to go to hospital to get his finger reset. This was unfortunate as he started the first 40 miles of the race at a fantastic pace.

Despite the mishap and having to retire from the event, Robert raised over £700 in sponsorship, with GEW matching each donation made by sponsors.
