GEW opens operation in India

Redhill, UK based UV curing systems manufacturer GEW (EC) Limited has opened the first phase of its sales, service and manufacturing operation in Mumbai, India. The facility will service the Indian sub-continent and the Southeast Asia markets. The operation is headed by CEO Dnyanesh Amonkar, an Engineer with a post-graduate management degree and over ten years experience with leading names in the Asian graphic arts industry.

Commenting on the start-up Amonkar explains. “India has been a strong market for GEW and the new facility is also located in close proximity to some of the more vibrant markets within Asia Pacific. Mumbai being a commercial capital provides easy access to any destination allowing fast and efficient sales and service support. In this initial phase we will be putting together a sales and service team and building a stock of spare parts to expedite delivery to customers. At the same time we will be seeking to source labour intensive components from suppliers of repute in the Asia Pacific region. After initial evaluation and trials, our aim is to supply complete UV curing systems to the labels and packaging industry with extremely competitive and economical prices”.

Adds GEW UK based Managing Director, Malcolm Rae. “Phase two will see the start-up of our manufacturing and assembly operations in India in around twelve months where we anticipate being a totally integrated operation with established sales and support personnel in all the major Asian markets. We will also establish staff and UV systems manufacturing in India for the sheet fed and the offset carton printing industries world-wide. Up to now we have been primarily focused on the web fed graphic arts markets where we have seen year on year growth through supplying original equipment manufactures (OEM) and direct UV up-grade sales. The sheet fed, offset market will enable us to further expand our operations”.
