Heath 1st XV showed their mettle and togetherness as a team.

UPDATE – GEW-sponsored HHRFC gets 2023/4 season underway

Haywards Heath’s 1st XV plays in the Counties 2 Sussex League. The team had an excellent season in 2022/3, finishing in 3rd place in the table with 55 points.

UPDATE: 20.03.2024

Haywards Heath continued their fine 2023/24 season with a 14-7 win over Pulborough on Saturday the 2nd of March and a 27-15 victory over midtable Uckfield on the 16th of March. The tense, hard fought victory over Pulborough meant Heath leapfrogged their rivals in the table, taking them to the top of the Counties Sussex 2 league. Their subsequent victory over Uckfield meant they held on to this position for the run-in.

With just two games left, Heath now hold a 1-point advantage over Pulborough with a game in hand, and a 4-point lead over Shoreham in third. Heath face Shoreham in the final game of the season in a match that could decide which club gets promoted. Heath also need to face bottom of the table Crawley in their other remaining game.

Promotion would mean that Heath move into the Surrey/Sussex 1 league, although there is talk of further reforms to the league format before next season commences.

GEW will continue to sponsor Haywards Heath Rugby Football Club throughout the 2024/25 season. If you wish to find out more about GEW’s sponsorship of the club, or if you would like to find out more about the club’s plans for a new clubhouse, go here.

Since September 2022, GEW has been a proud co-sponsor of one of Sussex’s premier amateur rugby clubs, Haywards Heath RFC (HHRFC). Now that the 2023/4 season is underway, here’s an update on the team’s progress since then…

Haywards Heath’s 1st XV plays in the ‘Counties 2 Sussex’ League, which is the 8th tier of English rugby union competition. The team had an excellent season in 2022/3, finishing in a highly respectable 3rd place in the league table, with a season total of 55 points. The full table can be seen on the England Rugby website here.

To date, HHRFC’s 1st XV has also had a resounding start to the new season, with both home and away victories against Shoreham and Worthing III respectively. You can follow the team’s results and fixtures at any stage during the season, through the England Rugby website or by following these links. There’s also a full Counties 2 Sussex league table here.

With four players making their first team debuts and the squad wearing a new match kit, there was a new look for Heath at the beginning of the 2023/24 campaign. This promises to be an exciting season for the club with a growing squad of senior players meaning a 2nd XV squad was playing away at Hove Sea Serpents, and ongoing updates on the progress of the new clubhouse and the prospect of breaking ground this autumn being well received by Club members.
